Meet Your Coach

Joseph F. PriceJoseph F. Price -- "Coach J"

Most recently I am the co-author of a short story that relates to personal development and overcoming addiction. You can find the book on Amazon and it’s titled "Simply Quit Drinking."

My route to becoming a personal development life coach didn’t come in what you may call the traditional sense; my journey has been non-traditional and very exciting. I actually started my journey in the Self-Improvement movement about 29 years ago when not too many people were discovering its power. I was involved with my first sales job selling Encyclopedia Britannica. In the business of sales we believe in personal growth. Generally sales people do personal development daily to improve performance. There, Mr. Hale was one of my greatest mentors. In the first week he told me to go in an office and listen to a six-tape album by Denis Waitley called "The Psychology of Winning" and to not come out until it was finished. I was young, ambitious and eager to excel, so I did as I was asked. I was completely overwhelmed by this information that could help me grow and become a better person. I developed a passion for life and a commitment to excellence.

From then on, I went to every seminar that I could find, and I listened to every recommended tape that my sales manager would loan me. I knew after going to my first seminar and seeing the appreciation from the crowd that was what I wanted to do and be a part of in life. I wanted to be a strong positive force to help people become better and greater than they ever imagined.

Well over 25 years ago I set out on a journey that continues to this day of constantly learning about what makes people tick and what gets people stuck. I began reading everything I could get my hands on in the area of self-improvement and how we think and how we behave. I’ve read hundreds of books to gain insight into the greatest personal development minds and theories.

While I pursued my passion and dream, continuing to learn, I paid the bills by being a midnight cab driver in Washington, D.C. for over ten years. You’d be amazed at the volume of people from all different walks of life that I came in contact with on a daily basis. I saw people rise before my eyes and I saw them fall. I saw people in all manner of states of unhappiness, hurrying, worrying, and yet also saw some people very calm, collected, and unstressed. I took note and tried to understand. I have a compassion for people and their circumstances. Many were not getting the results they desired, or the life they dreamed of, and yet some were apparently satisfied people.

I drove a limousine, personal private car service, for about five years and got a change to interview some of the top people in many fields from lobbyists, top lawyers, former politicians, corporate executives, and even rich house wives. I also talked to people from every sort of job and life circumstance that’s out there. After being exposed to a whole gambit of people and situations, and after watching that many people in action, there are certain clues and patterns. I studied the successful and unsuccessful, and I have distilled the differences.

I thought a lot about how to put this knowledge together in ways that I can be of service. In 2006, I started Reaching Peak LLC with my best friend and wife Karen. Our purpose is to provide knowledge-based products in the areas of life skills and personal development to share what I have prepared a lifetime to give. We work with people because we want help them fulfill their dreams, reach goals, or find that "something missing" so that they can lead happy, satisfied, and balanced lives.

Coaching was a natural progression from being a speaker and radio talk show host.  Once again I read every book I could find about life coaching I bought and or listened to every CD or mp3 I could find to prepare myself to be the best coach I could be.

I must say that being in service to others is my ultimate intrinsic passion and that coaching is the most rewarding and fulfilling part of being in the field of personal development because it allows me to see people blossom.

I am a "regular guy" in some ways who has seen and experienced real life and studied people.  I commutate in reality, in your own language, and not some clinical esoteric psycho babo that won’t do you any good. It will be my honor to work with you, and be a partner with you in your journey to personal growth, personal transformation, balance and personal fulfillment.

Please do ask me for references. I have very happy, satisfied "clients" who may wish to remain anonymous, but will gladly share the growth they have gained with Coach J.
